The main objective of ETC is to encourage and support initiatives of deprived groups towards sustainable development and equity in terms of access to resources, benefits and decision making processes.
ETC accomplishes this by:
- making available expertise and know-how for development programmes and projects focusing on needs and initiatives of men and women directly involved;
- acting as intermediary between international assistance agencies and organizations serving the development interests of men and women of the target groups;
- emphasising participatory approaches involving men and women in planning and implementation of external interventions;
- specialising in sustainable agriculture and management of natural resources, integrated rural development, institutional and gender issues;
- providing services in training, information exchange, consultancy and project management in the above mentioned fields;
- supporting the establishment of sister organisations sharing ETC's approach.
