Wherever you go in IIRR's world, you can see and feel the impact of the Institute's unique "release not relief" approach to building the skills and knowledge of local communities, empowering them to solve the causes of their poverty and hunger.

Contribute to bringing meaningful change in poor people’s lives by donating or supporting a training participant or providing a grant for an IIRR Project.  Here are some examples of what your contribution could do.

  • In Western Province, Kenya, IIRR's staff are working to facilitate local entrepreneurship with a women's group, the youngest of whom is 72 and the oldest is 86.  Now, not only are the women earning stable and reliable income, but the IIRR initiative is revolutionary in its approach to dealing with the aged in a traditional, rural society.

  • In the Bicol region of the Philippines, local fisher-folks and landless laborers used to live without adequate food for up to 6 months of the year.  There, IIRR staff recently introduced bio-intensive gardening techniques and now food is available year-round.

  • In Vietnam and Cambodia, IIRR's staff is training local farmers reduce post-harvest crop loss, increasing incomes by upwards of 50 percent.

  • In Ecuador, a widow who was not able to sustain her children now has more than she needs, thanks to an IIRR credit program.
