IIRR has been working in Southern Sudan since 2009. The main challenges facing Southern Sudan are poverty, inequality, massive population shifts due to the movement of internally displaced persons, a weak government and a human resource base that lacks the skills needed to create and maintain sustainable livelihoods.
Hand-in-hand with the Southern Sudanese people and the government, IIRR is engaging in post-conflict reconstruction and capacity building efforts in the region.
