Southern Sudan

IIRR has been working in Southern Sudan since 2009. The main challenges facing Southern Sudan are poverty, inequality, massive population shifts due to the movement of internally displaced persons, a weak government and a human resource base that lacks the skills needed to create and maintain sustainable livelihoods.

Hand-in-hand with the Southern Sudanese people and the government, IIRR is engaging in post-conflict reconstruction and capacity building efforts in the region.

IIRR Southern Sudan Programs focus on:

    • Human Resources and Institutional Capacity Assessment
    • Local Government Capacity Building
    • Capacity Building of Civil Society Organizations
    • Food Security and Asset Building
    • Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation
    • Education for Pastoralist and Marginalized Communities
