Learning Our Way Out: Innovation for Family Planning and Reproductive Health (2010)
This book describes the experiences of a community-based discovery and learning approach that was used to address community problems including population and development issues in Ethiopia. The approach seeks to show that family planning should be seen within the broader context of economic, social, and environmental development. Issues covered are how LOWO relates to family planning, reproductive health patterns, savings and credit cooperatives, and alternative and innovative tools to use in areas where cultural sensitivities make it difficult to discuss reproductive health and contraception openly. The book is useful to development organizations, the private sector, policy makers, government or civil society, and all others who wish to assist communities in overcoming socio-economic, health, and environmental challenges.
