NGO
leaders and development practitioners participate
in IIRR’s year opener course on NGO Leadership,
Development and Social Change
IIRR
begins the year with an international training course
on NGO Leadership, Development and Social Change
(NGOLDSC) simultaneously happening in four Global
Partnership Program sites, in which a total of 50
NGO leaders, development managers and practitioners
from all over the world are expected to participate.
The training program at the IIRR Yen Center in the
Philippines began this week and will go on, as with
the other three sites, until 6 February. Twelve
NGO leaders and development managers from 10 countries
are participating in the course in Silang. The objectives
are: to extensively explore intercultural communications,
team building, and leadership styles and assess
strategic interventions at different levels –
from grassroots to global – as demonstrated
in the work of a number of NGOs and civil society
organizations around the world. The course provides
a systematic orientation to the Global Partnership's
teaching-learning methods: student and team-centered
learning, Internet-based conferencing, and other
distance education tools, including the use of ‘Blackboard,’
a web-based educational software.
The Global Partnership Program organizations include
– BRAC-Bangladesh, Escuela para el Desarrollo-Peru,
and School for International Training-SIT, USA.
On completion some participants will proceed to
participate in an optional Course Application Project
(CAP) phase, where they will immediately apply the
lessons learned to a practicum-based exercise of
1-2 weeks.
